Sugarpill is a brand name synonymous with highly pigmented, brightly coloured eyeshadows. Their palettes are hailed by beauty bloggers as THE name in all things colour. I can’t believe how long it took me to finally purchase one. The palette will set you back $34 (about €27 or £21) for four 0.14 us oz of shadow.
The package arrived quick enough and postage cost about $8. The box contained my palette, a sparkly Sugarpill sticker, a Sugarpill card and a sample of one of their loose eyeshadows; Lumi – a shimmery white. My favourite part was the fact that the order summary was personalised with my name in hot pink highlighter. I love independent companies for their personalisation of things. Makes me smile anyway.
Now on to the palette!
The palette itself is pink and contains the Sugarpill logo. It’s made of a sturdy cardboard and has a magnetic closure.
The back of the palette gives a cute diagram naming the enclosed shadow.
All appear to have a slight glitter through them but swatch matte on the skin.
At first, I was very disappointed. I had been promised incredible pigmentation but was left with faded shades. I can assure you my Inglot and most of my Mac shadows are a lot stronger in payoff!
What an improvement! They definitely pop off the skin now. This is more of the pigmentation I was expecting.
And here’s both swatches side by side for comparison.
’2am’ is a warm matte purple reminiscent of Mac’s ‘Fig 1′. I love colours like this for an alternative to black in a smokey eye, espeically on green eyes.

‘Mochi’ swatched over NYX’s Jumbo Eye Pencil in ‘Milk’.
The glitter is from a different source and not the eyeshadow itself.
‘Mochi’ is a pale matte aqua-turquoise shade which is quite unusual in colour. This is not one I would see myself getting much use out of but it is a very pretty colour all the same.
‘Velocity’ is such an incredibly intense pop of deep blue. This is one of my favourite colours in the world, although not so much as an eyeshadow colour. Great for under the eye or as a hint of colour. It may be a little much all over the lid.
‘Acidberry’ is an unusual jolt of lime green. This is a stunningly bright and unusual colour which I cannot compare to anything else I own.
Overall, I love the palette. The packaging is cute. The shadows are unusual and I’m pretty sure I don’t have any like them. While the pigmentation was a little disappointing, I learned how to achieve the payoff I want and if I was going for a bright bold look incorporating these shadows, I would probably use my Milk pencil anyway so it makes little difference that I HAVE to. I can definitely see myself purchasing the other two palettes in future as, if nothing else, these are a cute collector item!
